I wonder what thoughts people have about the purchase of the '1901 Census venture' by GenesReunited? http://www.qinetiq[.]com/home/newsroom/news_releases_homepage/2005/3rd_quarter/friends_reunited_buys.html or http://tinyurl[.]com/9v3dz MB

I would have hoped they would get this site working up to standard before venturing into other ones. Just read the article and definately think part of that £3m plus should have been spent on updating this site and adding better features. After all we are paying for it.

They have just taken over the management of the site, previously run by Qinetiq. nell

Glad I'm an Ancestry subscriber. I have little faith in GR if their own site is anything to go by.

It's not the Ancestry one, it's the National Archives one. I can't see the point really. Concentrate on getting this site sorted.

I think the comments fit with my thoughts. I would prefer GenesReunited concentrate on improving this site first and perhaps listen to what the users want. I find GR useful as it attracts a lot of people new to family history so keep hoping to get a message with some crucial bit of information! Unfortunately a lot of the contacts tend to stop for no real reason and this can be difficult if you have not managed to get a real EMail address to contact them direct. I subscribe to Ancestry so I don't often look at the PRO 1901 census pages. MB
