marriage cert query

thanks both, smiley I'm glad you have the same, I am sure he was dead at the time of the wedding but the certificate threw me, especially as it was on both of them. jenny

In the case of an illegitimate child, it won't usually have a father at all! nell

I also have deceased fathers, but it just gives their names.. it doesn't say deceased

It should show father's name whether he is alive or deceased but may have deceased written after his name. I have several that have deceased written where it would show his occupation but they still show father's name. Good Luck Irene.

would a marriage cert for 1837 and 1849 (same person married twice) show father or would it show deceased if that was the case? jenny
