Can anyone help me make the search easier? Looking specifically for William Knott's birth in Westminster.in 1829....have no idea of the parishes involved...and don't want to waste the credits... What would suggestions be to type in search area? Thanks in anticipation Leeanne

Have you looked on IGI that may give you the name of the church he was baptised in which may help you. Regards Irene

I don't know 'The Genealogist' but if you google 'Hugh Wallis batch numbers' and get that site, you can click on England and then London N-Z. Click W and scroll down to find Westminster - there is a list of churches with C numbers (C for christenings). You can click on the ones that include 1829 in their coverage and then put a name in the search box and look. nell

Hi Irene many thanks.....I may sound a little silly.....but I thought those records could only be found after 1837??? If I am wrong where could I possibly start looking for the IGI....did look on the LDS site......the only one that even came close didn't have a fathers name...only mother's...which I don't know.....and the year of birth was 1 out.. Any suggestions? With thanks leeanne

Leane Sorry I removed it as it was too difficult to cope with - google 'Hugh Wallis' as I put above and follow instructions to find the list. The IGI is brilliant for pre-1837 and some dates beyond. 1837 is when civil registration started, so you need parish records before then and there are loads on the IGI - but mainly baptisms and marriages. nell
