I have found this web site and it offers to try and find the baptism record for my Gt Grandfather from 1845 in Kilkenny for £23.40. Before I send off my hard earned cash, has anybody had any success with them please?............Bev X

I have used this site many times to obtain records and have found them completely reliable. After you place an order you will be sent an email verifying your request. You will receive another email advising you that they found the record and when it will be mailed or if they couldn't find it. Rose

Just hd a quick look-they are taking the p*** !! You supply the refs for an 1837 or after bmd andthey charge £12.50 normal or £37 express.!! They are using the gro facility, just like you can.......... Prices are £7 normal and £28 express. Any idiot can do that !! Adding the cream on top....... With regards pre 1837,well thats a different matter, especially Ireland. However, there are other ways of aquiring pre 1837 records in england, for instance the FAMILIA site will steer you towards localised research services from county librarians.

I've used this site twice for Irish births...County Kerry. One they found, which cleared up a real mystery for me. The other they didn't- I might have to try again under mother's maiden name for that one as it may be another case of illegitimacy, or a different townland. As regards the Irish records I would recommend them, although expensive, but the English and Scottish ones, no, there are cheaper options. Irish records are particularly hard to find pre-1865 unless you can go to Dublin yourself and search the records, something of an impossibility from here in NZ. It depends how desperate you are :-) which I am!!! Sylvia

Many Thanks everybody for your replies. I will ponder this one some more I think. I can't get over to Dublin to look at the records for myself and as it's a church record that I need....... Kind Regards Bev X
