Welsh names - Laria ??

Can anybody tell me if Laria is a definite male Christian name or is it short for something else? It appears on the census of a male ancestor who was born in Wales but was living in Yorkshire - perhaps the scribe couldn't understand his accent??!! |

HOwever!!! on Ancestry comes up as both female & male christian name. More so female than male!!. Shirley |
