Ted I haven't made any definite plans to go BUT my list of things I need to do there is getting rather out of hand. So...will work out when I can get there in the next week or so and let you know. If you're not sorted by then, will happily have a hunt for you Lou

Lynne, hiya. Well I could, but Im not sure whether its the JOHN LEE im looking for, and the GRO and some other Registry Offices charge you £4 if its not the one you want, so I would sooner give somebod else £2.50 plus postage for a photostat copy of the church entry, and besides that I prefer the church entries, because ive often, well not often, but it doesn happen, had a had written cert back from a Registry with errors, ie. last month from Staffs where the brides maiden name was written as THREADGOLD when in fact it should have read THREADWOOD. A long winded answer for you, but you did ask. lol

Ted I'm not going to Manchester Records office but if you haven't got the GRO Ref it is Manchester 8d 419. Can't you just buy the certificate? Lynne

good morning to you all. If anybody is planning to take a trip to the above, I wonder if they could look up all the particulars on a marriage entry for ST JOHNs Church, MANCHESTER, in the MARCH QTR OF 1866 for the marriage of JOHN LEE and ANNIE MASON. The dads names for JOHN should be RICHARD LEE, probably deceased and occ potter or porter. If anyone is making a visit and can make me a photostat copy of the entry, I am quite prepared to cover the costs of the copy and a bit extra. Please get back to me and we can make arrangements regarding paying. Thanks very much. TED.
