Tried to do this is a link to today's Independent but they don't appear to have included article in online edition: 'Ian Hislop is spearheading a project to bring the names of First World War memorials in towns and villages across the UK to life. He will present a four part series on CHannel 4, NOT FORGOTTEN, piecing together the history of men who died in Flanders. He will meet surviving relatives and explore the social impact of the decimation of a generation. In a joint project with the Imperial War Museum, Channel 4 is creating an online archive of the names on every war memorial in the UK. It hopes the public will upload photographs and information about their own relatives.' What does everyone think? WIll this just be a repeat of the CWGC site but with the bonus of the UK memorial pictures? Will you contribute? I'm trying to find details of the programme makers so will add emails/numbers etc if I get anywhere. Zoe |
