Hi Trudy, Brighton History Centre has the Argus on microfiche but not online I'm afraid. I live in Brighton, anything I can help you with? Carol x |

Sounds dramatic! It might have warranted a tiny mention in The Times - someone was offering lookups on the Records office board a while ago. If she could find it, you'd get the date. I have sadly mislaid thelibrary number I had or I'd help out. nell |

Thanks Nell - unfortunately the person that gave me the info is a little vague, and I only know it was Brighton in the early 1960's and the gentleman's christian name is Arthur, and he shot himself on the pier!!!!! |

As far as I am aware, the only online newspapers are the Times Archive and a sample of National papers on the British Library website. Highly unlikely that any local paper archive would be online. However, county records offices/central libraries and local history centres will have back issues of papers, usually on microfilm. If you have a specific edition in mind, you could ask them to photocopy it for you for a small charge, but if you need someone to look through a lot of copies, I think you will have to travel! nell |

Does anyone know if the Brighton Argus has newspaper archives on line - tried googling and didn't get very far? Anyone any ideas. Thanks. Trudy |
