is there a site to check prison records from20th C

There won't be anything online for something so recent. You would need to check the prison register which would be in the county records office. If its not there, I think you need to contact the Home Office as the records are probably protected for a certain length of time. If you can find out when/where he committed his crime, you could get a report from the local newspaper archive about it. This should also be in the county record office - but be warned, it might be unpleasant reading, depending on what he did. nell |

i am at present trying to find out what happened to my grandfather. i was told he was imprisoned at durham prison but not sure of date is there any where i can find out this info. thanks linda |
