Hi there As a Jehovahs Witness I can tell you that what you have been told is right. Just as in a church, a registrar has to be present at the marriage, and the bride and groom go to sign the certificate after the ceremony. The copy of the certificate remains with the state and the other certificate is given to the couple. Hope that helps Lynda in sunny Wales

Hi there, The only JW marriage I have been to, had to have a registar present, just like most (if not all) Non conformist churches. So I assume no problem!! registered just like any other Non C of E marriage. Suex

Any marriage after 1837 (and I don't think the JWs have been going that long) MUST be registered under civil registration law. nell

Or if before a Kingdom Hall marriage was officially valid (and I have no idea when that would be), they would most probably have got married at the register office. Kate.

They will be indexed in the GRO marriage indexes just like any other marriage. If you want the original cert, you would need I think to contact the relevant Kingdom Hall. nell
