Hi Does anyone know of a website or map I could buy to help me with the old London districts? I think there are 33 now, but there used to be 170! Where was Cripplegate? Was it near Kentish Town etc. I`m Confused. Keith

Keith No Cripplegate was in the City. Kentish Town is slightly north of Camden - not a vast difference in mileage but several parishes away. See this page for more info: http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/ It's not working at the moment, but if you try later and click on London you will find a list of London parishes and maps of the area they covered. Kentish Town would be in Middlesex originally. You can find both it and Cripplegate on www*streetmap*co*uk - replace * with . You can zoom in and out to see how they are in relation to eachother. If you have lots of London relatives, invest in an A-Z, it is invaluable. nell

Keith You may like to know that St Giles Cripplegate still exists and there is a beautiful floodlit photo of it here: www.cityoflondonchurches*com/stgiles.htm replace * with . It's in the centre of the Barbican, near the Museum of London and you may find a trip to both of them very interesting if you have lots of London relatives. nell
