l.ve looked on the 1901 census but cant find William Henry Macarthy his wife Elizabeth Agnes Macarthy age about 23 and daughter also Elizabeth Agnes Macarthy age about 2 they lived in London in 1901 probably Hackney Shoreditch or Hoxton.how can this be!l,m not brilliant on the computer but is there anywhere else l should look thanks for any help or advise Irene Buckley

They might be mistranscribed. have you tried McCarthy MacCarthy McCarty etc. nell ps I have some Carter relatives of my husbands who are Carters from 1871 onwards, but McCarthy in 1861. Head of household James, a cooper, who lived in Hoxton at one time. Let me know if you think there's a link.

I tried to check Elizabeth Agnes junior's birth record to get a more exact idea of her age and place of birth. The only record resembling it is this one: Name: McCARTHY, Agnes Elizabeth Record Type: Births Quarter: September Year: 1898 District: Greenwich County: Greater London Kent London Surrey Volume: 1d Page: 1017 But even searching Agnes born Greenwich there's no McCarthy and Agnes born Surrey there are too many. Jess will probably find them though, she's a bit of a census whizz. nell

thanks so much for looking for me i.ve discovered the father was William Charles Macarthy not William Henry,although that is what is shown when he got married,he married Elizabeth Agnes Sinclair in 1899 in Holborn London she was born in 1878 in Hackney the daughter was born 1898 the year before they married ,her name was Elizabeth Agnes Sinclair she was born in Shoreditch the mother died in 1922 giving birth to her youngest child l believe she had about 12 children Irene
