Try writing to the archivist at Windsor Castle, I believe that is where the records are held for the Royal Household. Jennifer

Liz, What a marvellous story! Wouldn't it have been a coincidence if they had been there when my man was ... although I doubt it. My chappie was Fred Nutbeam who was head gardener in HMQ's time ... in a recent-ish film about the gardens, he's on camera talking to the Queen ... he used to ride about the gardens on his bicycle. Time-wise, it looks to have been in the early 1960s. Whilst I'm not sure of our exact relationship, the surname is so rare and there is some vague family knowledge of him. He would have been related to my maternal Gt Grandmother ... bit remote, but hey the rest of my lot were so humble that we have to dig deep for a star! Good luck with your efforts. Regs Jane

Liz, No, I don't know - but I would be interested in the answer too, because I have a 'royal servant' in my ancestry. However, I would imagine that such a house would keep old records for quite some time - even if just filed away in cabinets. Your question has prompted me to have a look at the British Monarchy website at www dot royal dot gov dot uk website - there is a 'contact' option ... have a look at that. I reckon that's a problem solved! Let me know how you get on. Regs Jane PS: Mine was a gardener, what was yours?

Does anyone know how I can trace former employees of Buckinhgam Palace. Probably employed there about 1910-1920. Thanks Liz
