Hi Louise, Jan is right, Stoke Damerel became Devonport. This info below was copied and pasted from the 'Registration Districts in England & Wales'. Stoke Damerel Created 1st July 1837. Abolished 9th November 1898 (renamed Devonport). Sub-districts : Clowance; Morice; St. Aubyn; Stoke; Tamar. GRO volumes : IX (1837-51); 5b (1852-98). Devonport, Stoke Damerel. Registers now in Plymouth district You can take a look at the web site yourself, very helpful when you do not know what town/village is in what district, etc....here's the link:- http://www(.)fhsc(.)org(.)uk/genuki/REG **Remember to remove the brackets** Regards, Dawn.

I might be wrong but I always thought that Stoke Damerel became Devonport.

where is exactly in Devon? (anywhere near Bideford? Hartland?)
