Hi My Grandmother is driving me daft!!!!!! she doesn't seem to have been born or lived according to the Census doh !!!!!! I have just received my Grandmothers wedding Certificate her are the details: She married my Grandfather (Henry Foden) on Sept 13th 1905 at Nottingham Register Office Her full name is stated MARY ATKINS aged 24 years her fathers name was EDWIN ATKINS Coal miner her address at the time of her marriage was 5 Newmarket Road Bulwell Nottingham. I have just looked on the 1901 Census and she wasn't at that address in 1901.I can't find a Mary Atkins of the right age on the 1901 Census with a father Edwin. Her father Edwin may have been deceased at the time of her marriage but it doesn't say he was. I also looked on 1891/1881 still can't find her with father Edwin. The problem is I know she married in Nottingham and died there in 1928 but do not where she was born. Can anyone find her please!!!! Have managed to trace to Grandfather's family back to 1798 but my Grandmother is proving very difficult. Cheryl

Cheryl I've tried variations, wildcards, all sorts on Ancestry and LDS site, but nothing yet. Don't give up, will keep looking and I'm sure more experienced eyes will succeed before I do!! Christine

Suppose next step might be to find her birth cert, which should have mother's maiden name, which might then help find her parents' marriage. Do you have any of these certs/dates?

Hi Christine Thanks for trying to help I really appreciate it. No luck with her Birth Certificate but on her Death Certificate dated 3rd May 1928 its states her age as 47 which ties in with her marriage certificate in 1905 aged 24, which makes her DOB 1881 its just where that the problem is. Cheryl This is the only birth I can find that is remotely close to the right year. 1881 is hardly covered at all on FreeBMD and Ancestry. Name: Atkins, Mary Record Type: Births Quarter: March Year: 1884 District: Basford County: Derbyshire Nottinghamshire Volume: 7b Page: 196 Doesn't look good does it? If you don't have any luck I will try 1837online when I get home from work. Lynne
