It was Somerley Park which is still owned by the Earls of Normanton I believe. I could not find him where I thought he should be, and a kind person here with a fresh pair of eyes found him on the census. I couldn't read the address at first so I looked up the head of the household (Caroline Agar) and went from there. :o) There is a website for the house. It is lovely! I wouldn't mind being a butler there I can tell you! Claire xx

Thanks to some very kind people over the last few weeks giving me tips here and there, and doing look ups, I have found that my 3x gr grandad was born in bucks, and that the house he was born in is still standing. Also I found just the other day that he was a butler for a very well to do family. On further investigation it turns out that he was butler to an earl at the family's seat, the house is still lived in by the family, they have deposited all the estate records at the local records office. I have mailed the office who offer research. So I thought you all deserve a thank you as because of one or two leads I now have a whole new avenue opening up at my fingertips. I thought I would share my excitement with you and let you know you are all very much appreciated. :o) Claire xx
