Does anyone know where St. Georges is/was in Middlesex please? Carole

Possibly St Georges in the East? Stepney? But there are a few St Georges in Middlesex area. Do you have any further info to cut down the options?

Heather I only have the census to go on. It says they were born St. Georges Middlesex. Carole

My great grandfather was described as born St George's Middlesex on the first census taken after his birth (1861). As previous answer, his birth was registered in St George in the East, Middlesex.

Carole Could be St. George in the East Created 1st July 1837. Abolished 1st January 1926 (incorporated into Stepney district). In Middlesex until 1889. Sub-districts : St. George North; St. George and St. John; St. John; St. Mary; St. Paul. GRO volumes : II (1837-51); 1c (1852-1925). St. George in the East. Registers now in Tower Hamlets district. or St. George Hanover Square Created 1st July 1837. In Middlesex until 1889. Sub-districts : Belgrave; Hanover Square; Knightsbridge; Mayfair; Mayfair and Knightsbridge; St. John; St. Margaret; St. Margaret and St. John; Victoria; Westminster St. John; Westminster St. Margaret. GRO volumes : I (1837-51); 1a (1852-1930). St. George Hanover Square, Westminster St. John (from 1868), Westminster St. Margaret (from 1868), Westminster St. Peter (from 1868). Registers now in Westminster district. Is where they are living on the census a clue? nell
