Sorry Linda, don't know about sites. But my County Records Office usually have a selection on offer when I pop in. Maybe the CRO for the area you are researching have the same. They may have an online list of publications or perhaps you could give them a ring. You could also have a look at the website for the Family History Society for the area you are researching to see if they have any publications which might be of interest. Jeanette x |

Phillimores is pretty good, they have lots of books on different places. Also what about Amazon. Well worth looking on there |

Local FHS is probably a good site. Many local history books are published by small local publishers and might not get a wide distribution. I always have a look around small bookshops, tourist offices, newsagents as you often find very interesting little booklets on sale. One idea might be see if the local library has their catalogue online and search that for titles. If you find a useful book on the area then see if the publisher has a website so you can check their catalogue. MB |

Hello Our local village library has copies of locally written booklets, leaflets and even some census data from 1841 onward. Several of the neighbouring villages and small towns do too so it is worth having a look. And it is all free! Kathy |
