I'm making my 3rd visit to Stafford Record Office tomorrow (can't wait!) and wondered if anyone could recommend where to park. The usual one I use is only for a 2hr stay and I want somewhere for longer really. I noticed there's a Sainsbury's (or Safeway!) but I'm not sure if I could leave it there or not. Any ideas or places to recommend? Also, I'll gladly do any lookups for anyone desperate for one, if I get the time of course. Best Regards Helen x

Hi, I went last weekend and there's a car park right behind the Records Office. It's on North Walls. Google Multi Map and find Records Office which is on Eastgate Street. You have to go around and kind of double back on yourself. If you get there early as I did, there's no problem with parking. It's quite large, short stay and long stay. It's about £2 / for all day but GET THERE EARLY. We got there at 9am and had no trouble. Thanks for the offer of Look up. Would be grateful if you could do a look-up for me while your there. Any of the following. Birth record William Baker b 1824 Tipton area. Parents were Cornelius & Elizabeth Baker. I know he had a sibling Catherine born 1829 Tipton. Got her birth details. But struggling with William. Or his father's marriage: Cornelius Baker married Elizabeth ? approx 1820. Really appreciate the offer, Good Luck and thanks again, Regards Sandra

Hi Sandra, I think I know the car park that you mean so I'll give it a try. The only problem is, is that I won't be arriving until 12.30pm......I'll just have to be prepared to wait! Of course I don't mind a lookup if I have the spare time. You'll be first on my list as you've asked first! Do you think this is Cornelius' marriage on the LDS site? Cornelius Baker married Elizabeth Smith on 16 Sept 1822 in West Bromwich, Staffs. I'll have a look for you anyway tomorrow. Speak soon Helen

Me again! The LDS site also has your William Baker, son of Cornelius & Elizabeth Baker. Christened 30 Nov 1825, Tipton. Again, I'll have a look to check it's all correct.

Hi Helen, If you have the time could you ask them if they hold the records for the Union Workhouse in Deansgate, Newcastle under Lyme there. I am looking for my 4 x great grandfather Isaac Hollins aged 66 and his daughter Hannah who were in there on the 1861 census. On the 1851 they were living at Keele and there is no trace of him on the 1871 census. I do not know what information is available from their records but am hoping it will say why he was there and when his death was, I have been unable to find his death. Good luck with your own research and many thanks for the offer. Audrey x Oh Helen :( Have just had a senior moment. I am going on holiday today, and will not be here to pick up any replies! Can I be cheeky and ask IF you can do the look up can you private message me please, so that I can still find the thread when I get back next Saturday. Sorry to be a pest!! Many thanks. x

Hi Helen, Wow! Thanks for the info, sorry I'm late in replying only just got in. That certainly seems to be the family. It took me hours last week-end looking for & failing to find William's birth, but came across Catherine's Christening record for 5th Feb. That's amazing and so quick too. Just need to look and take in what you've given me but so far it looks like the same family. Have a good day at the records office and I hope you find what your looking for. How did you find this site? Never heard of it. Only been doing this since Nov last year and am amazed at the sites people keep finding and the info they can get. Cheers I owe you one, Regards Sandra

Hi Helen If you get chance I would be so grateful if you could check for a marriage in Barton under Needwood (the church is St James, I believe) between 1810 and 1813. Its for William Bibb and Mary ???? I've been searching for this marriage for ages...the baptisms have been filmed for IGI but not the marriages! Thank you so much Lou
