Thank you Debra for your kind reply, I purchased a copy of that marriage certificate and it was the wrong one - wrong father, also purchased Alice Stroud/Benjamain A Binner 1890 another wrong one. Thanks again Irene |

Have you ruled out this marriage Marriages Jun 1890 Hermann Otto Reinbold H Croydon 2a 478 Greaves Alice Sarah Croydon 2a 478 Haggis James Alfred Croydon 2a 478 Reeve Louisa Ann Croydon 2a 478 Do you have the actual birth certificate of their oldest child(was it Bertha)? I know the surnames of the spouse dont match up but there is an Alice or maybe he married a Louisa and left her for Alice Stroud That way he wouldnt be free to marry . Deborah |

I have searched and searched for the marriage of ALICE STROUD TO either OTTO HERMANN OR CHARLES HERMANN( a german born around 1861) around 1891. They can be found in the 1901 census at Manilla Street, Poplar, he is then Charles Hermann- Their first child born 1892 father known as Otto Hermann. He is British Citizen. I feel they must have married for him to become a BCitizen. Perhaps the german name he had was different to Hermann. Alice can be found, single in the 1891 census living at Hoxton and first child was born at Hoxton so I feel that is where they would have married. Any Ideas. Regards Irene |
