Mary Elizabeth Donaldson, nee Hawkins, formerly Laws. This lady was my grandmother, she married my granddad in 1920 and was listed as a widow. The Donaldson bit I presume. She was christened Mary Lizzie Laws in 1886, however, at just 3 months old her father died in an accident. Her mother remarried, one William Hawkins. Her birth cert has her as Mary Lizzie Laws. Her wedding cert to my granddad has her father listed as William Hawkins. I’m trying to find out who her first husband was, somebody Donaldson. I assume she married him as Mary Elizabeth Hawkins but I’m having a hard time finding it, I’ve also searched under Mary Elizabeth Laws. I’ve tried freebmd and the North East bmd offices, with no luck yet. All of this *should* have taken place in the Durham area. If a bored individual with better eyes and more patience wants to have a go then please feel free!!! Thanks a lot, Brenda |

Suzanne - FreeBMD is not complete up until 1910.... it still has a lot of patches! :-D I think Robin has found the marriage.... but I might be wrong! |
