The National Archives Documents Online service is making various navy records available, currently 22% of registers for 1853 to 1891, but there are loads more in the pipeline - see their website for details and don't forget to keep checking back to see if they have what you are looking for yet! Details on: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/royal-navy-service.asp#availability

Thanks, Kate, that's fantastic (or it will be when it's finished!). I have 11 relatives that I know of who were in the Navy.

So that's what RSS is short for! Thanks for this, Kate. It will be fantastic when it's all up and running. The records are brilliant - so concise but so detailed.
