Can someone please tell me the difference between the deluxe and collectors editions? According to Amazons description the features are the same, but the deluxe has 6 CD Roms and collectors has 12. What is on them and do I need 12 particularly? Thaning you all in advance!! Karen from Frankfurt

Hi Karen They are data discs - things like Scottish Parish Records, selection from 1851 Census etc. I've got the deluxe edition and have found some info of use on the discs. HOWEVER - lol! ..... I had an email at the weekend from the company I got my FTM 2005, informing me that the 2006 version will be out at the end of August (although not available in the shops). Although I'm getting the 'upgrade' disc, if you haven't bought the 2005 version yet, I'd wait a few weeks and get the 2006. This was from TWRComputing(.)co(.)uk - a genealogy supplies firm. Hope this helps! Mandy :)

Thanks Mandy, I´ll wait a few more weeks and then buy the deluxe version. Best Wishes Karen

I bought the Collectors Edition. What a waste of money. I have found nothing of interest on any of the 12 disks. Some open in the FTM programme and others have their own viewer. The census disk is just a list of names and you need Ancestry to view the images. Maureen

I bought the FTM 2005 Deluxe package and found the additional CDs were of no real value at all! The basic FTM package is all you really need. You can order the basic FTM 2006 package now from Ancestry or Genealogy for US$29.95 plus ~US$13 airmail shipping, which is a pretty good deal for anywhere in the world! FTM 2006 should start shipping within the next week or so. Cheers, Bill

I wouldn't buy either the collectors or the deluxe package. You get exactly the same FTM software as you do with the basic version. The only difference is that the collectors and deluxe packages have some data cd's bundled with it. The usefullness of these CD's is questionable as there is no guarantee that they will contain anthing at all which is of value to you.
