Can anyone give me any guidance on any Orphanage web sites? But more particularly, one's that you can search for named children who were in the orphanage at the time. The period of interest would be around 1900. I am trying to confirm a family story that one of my ancestors was an orphan and she and her sister could have been Scottish, but that is irrelevant as I believe they were living in Leeds at the time. Any help would be appreciated.

This web sites gives names of institutions from the 1901 census, so if the orphanage was big enough it should be on there. http://homepage.ntlworld(.)com/jeffery.knaggs/Instuts.html#0406 (remove the brackets from the address) have you looked for the child on the 1901 census? MMM
