Elaine, Alport was the name of the old village at the Castlefield end of Deansgate in Manchester. Crista

Just googled Alport Town, it comes up as being near Matlock Derbyshire. Gloria

There is an Alport in Derbyshire, just below Bakewell. Dea

Does anybody know where Alport Town was/is? It is given as a place of residence on a marriage certificate. This person was born in Bury, Lancs, and then married in Manchester at the Cathedral. Alport Town could be close to either of these. Any ideas gtreatfully received!
