On the 1901 census, 10 month old baby boy, relationship to head NURSE CHILD, any ideas about what this means, there are husband and wife, servant and baby. 3 different surnames. |

Nurse child is what we would call a foster child today. The couple would have been paid to look after the baby. Kath. x |

Person /family paid to look after a child often from the time of birth - the child is then called a nurse child. I'm sure others have further details... Sarah |
