I really need some advice. I have been trying to trace my grandad, Wilfrid Leo Pearson. I have his birth certificate and therefore know his date of birth and parents. I have even been able to trace back to his fathers place of birth but I have a problem in going forward, if that makes sense. My mum was told that he was killed in the 2nd war but I have found no record of this. So how do you go forward from someones birthdate to find out what became of them? Any advice is gratefully received. Thanks Dorothy

Dorothy Could this be the person you are looking for??? Son of Charles Walter and Minnie Pearson; husband of Joan Irene Pearson, of Wrestlingworth, Bedfordshire. Victor

I though he was just Leo when we looked for him before!!??? lol There is nothing very clever you can do to track him down: If you know roughly where he lived you could try local electoral rolls trawling the GRO indexes (not sure you can rely on his name being Wilfrid rather than Wilfred) Ummmm - sure there must be another angle?? On his birth certificate his name is Wilfrid, not Wilfred but he was known as known as Leo. He was born 20th February 1908 in Batley, Yorkshire. His parents were Herbert and Margaret, nee Gaffney. Unfortunately for me there are lots of Pearsons from that area! But I'm pretty sure that Leo's dad was from Ravensthorpe, Yorkshire. Thanks Dorothy

Dorothy, Try Yorkshire BMD. Haven't used it myself but have heard it's pretty good!! Good luck in your hunt! Karen.
