When asking for a lookup or for help on the boards, please use some PUNCTUATION to help those trying to help you!! Before you post your message, try reading it as if you have no prior knowledge of the names etc. Can you differentiate surnames from fornames? Please use a capital letter to start any proper nouns (I know it's not trendy to do this, but it really does make messages easier to read, especially for middle-aged people like myself!!!) Is a place name easily recognisable as not being part of the persons name? Have you said which county the place is in? Is everything spelled correctly? Are the dates correct and in the right century (lol!)? I could go on, (as you might guess, I have just spent time and money looking for someone's rellie using a surname that turned out to be the name of the place they were born!!) Just had to get this off my chest - am feeling better now!! Happy Hunting - Sarah |

GR doesn't let you put paragraphs in the first message on a new thread. So you have to say - as Sarah did - see below in a mo or some such, then put your thread up. Then you can click on your thread, and Add Reply and then put your request, with full stops and capitals and punctuation as a reply to your own thread. Long-winded, but it is easier for would-be helpers to see what you are on about. nell |

Please tell what you know at the outset (even if it seems irrelevent) if you want a census return and have others PLEASE say where they were when you found them last and with whom. Looking for a John Brown is one thing John Brown born 1870 winchester with a daughter Esmerelda born 1901 and wife Julianna born 1876 can make a world of difference |
