Hi Robin & Jim thanks again I'll try family relatives I have looked at the US censuses for 1900 & 1910 Michigan in 1900 he is b. Sept 1864 age 35 emigrated 1886 1910 he is 41 years old !! He has children called Isabell & Ralphina which fit in with Matthew no 2's parents Ralph & Isabell Thanks again for your help Mandy |

I got them from FamilyRelatives. FreeBMD has the image for the 1866 one (page 1866b2-374). The other one's not entirely clear on the image, there's a possibility it's 233, but the GRO are used to that problem. |

Hi Amanda The main site for BMDs is pay per view http://www.1837online.*com/Trace2web/ (remove * ) Robin has already found the refs. and i think his conclusions are spot on.The only way you can be sure is to buy the 1869 cert. to get DOB. |

It looks quite obvious, to me. Matthew who is on 1901 census did not emigrate and you seem to have identified him. So it is the other one. |

two GRO refs: 1866 Apr-Jun, Reay, Matthew D, Liverpool, 8b 154 1869 Oct-Dec, Reay, Matthew Dunn, West Derby, 8b 253 the dates match the census ages, but neither of them squares with 19 Sept 1866 I think I'd go for the birth cert for 1869 -- if the DOB is 19 Sept then everything is right except the 1866 date, and old men often added a few years to their age |

Hi can any help me with one of my brick walls I have been in contact with a lady in Michigan about Matthew Dunn Reay b. 19 Sept 1866 Liverpool emigrated 1891(from obit) but I have 2 candiates Matthew no 1 b.1867(census dates) I have him on 1881,1891 & 1901 censuses Matthew no 2 b.1870 (census dates)I have him on 1871 & 1881 censuses I also have 2 ships manifests first one dated 1891 Matt D Reay aged 21 which fits in Matthew No 2 The second manifest also fits in with Matthew no 2 Can any one help me decide which Matthew Dunn Reay went to Michigan Thanks Mandy |
