Are you viewing them via Ancestry? 1st stage - save the image. Click the little picture of a floppy disc (top left of screen) - this brings up a box where you get the chance to name the image and shows you where the image will be saved on your computer. 2nd stage - you will need an image manipulation program on your computer to tidy up the image in order to get rid of all the black round the edges (at a basic level) and maybe improve the quality of the image in other ways (more complicated lol). If you don't have a program, but you have someone who helps you with the computer, then ask them to download a program for you (easiest way!!) 3rd stage - open your census image in the manipulation program (usually by right clicking the image with the mouse and selecting ''Open With....'') and crop it as much as you can. Once you have got rid of all the edges it should be good enough to read once you have printed it as large as possible. 4th stage - print the image using best quality print mode. Other thought - i don't have any census images printed out. they are all saved on my comp and backed up on a CD. I have over 600 census images, and couldn't face searching through all those when i want to see one again. When they are on screen you can zoom in to read the tricky bits!! Good Luck Valerie Sarah |

Maybe you need to put a sign up outside your house, ''£5 to first teenager who can show me how to work my paint program and view my census pages'' - or lay in wait for the paper boy/girl!! lol I'm sure you will get it sorted eventually..... Sarah |

Hi Valerie, I don't know what you use, but when I open my censuses they open in Paint Shop Pro and there is a 'Zoom by 1 step' or by 5 steps icon just above the image on the tool bar. I'm sure that whatever you have will have a similar function, so have a hunt around. Must admit I haven't printed any out either though, so I'm not much help really! A magnifying glass??! lol! Julia |
