Bit of a cheeky request I know because I should just apply for the certificate really but would be *hugely* grateful to anyone who could find this entry for me and transcribe the details (I don't get to the Records Office these days with a toddler to look after!) Its the marriage of John Wharton to Mary Woodhouse in the quarter JFM 1847 at Penwortham St Marys church nr Preston Lancs. Many thanks if you can help! Sharon |

If you have a look on the Lancs RO site - the bit about which parish registers they have http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/education/lro/records/folk2.asp - and click on P, you get a pdf file which lists all the records they have for parishes beginning with P. There seems to be a gap in Penwortham St Mary's M-registers between 1837 and 1857. It might be worth contacting the Records Office first: http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/education/lro/ to see if they actually have what you want - or can explain where it might be. If they do actually have it, they may be able to send you a photo-copy for a small fee (i.e. the price of the copy + postage and a bit for their time). If they're not busy and it's only one copy you want, they may do it as part of their routine - i.e. free. Christine |
