If a male child has a sex change later in life, how does one re-list this 'new' female in the family??? Any thoughts on this one?? Vickie

Oh Vicki! Isnt this hobby complicated enough already, without people changing sex?!!! Leave them off your tree altogether, I would! Seriously, cant imagine how you would record it on your Genes tree, but on your private tree record the birth etc and a note at the appropriate time to state that this person has now changed gender. As far as I understand it, they legally retain the gender they were born with..am I right? Olde Crone

This is so hard for the poor souls going through it! I have been through a fair amount of both emergency and elective surgery and brought my own patients through too and it is tough, so to have all the social and gender baggage to go with it must be horrendous! What about inventing a symbol - maybe the true female or male symbol and then the tiny birth one in the circle of that symbol. Does that sound clear? I can't bring up the symbols on here like I can in Word. Abigail

Thanks Abigail It is a sensitive issue and wasnt sure how to list it on my tree without causing embarrasment..I wont be putting it on the GR tree, only on my private one. Vickie
