Are the BMDs on Ancestry fully transcribed?

Because I am sure of some BMDs but they don't come up when searched for - why is this? I know they exist because in some cases I have the certificate! Or is there a more complete transcription on another website? Many thanks! Sharon |

Ancestry's BMD's are taken directly from FreeBMD which is not complete. Ancestry is also slightly behind the other site, as they update after FreeBMD. If you look at FreeBMD ''Main Page'' (link at bottom of Search page) then go to ''Information'' and then ''Coverage Charts'' you will be able to see really good graphs showing which quarters are transcribed and to what degree - very useful. 1837online is your best bet if you want to search online. It's complete from 1837 up to 2003. You can buy units (one per page is needed) from £5 upover. If you have a lot of searches to do or are not sure of when the events you are looking for took place, then it will be cheaper to do them at a library or LDS Family History Centre where you can look at all BMD's for free.
