stereotype founder? in the 1840's

one of my ancestors has this down as his occupation, any bright spark any ideas what it means?????

Old occupations says Founder Foundryman - casts metal i.e. iron, brass I'm not sure about the stereo, but the type bit could refer to the type used in printing, perhaps. nell

'stereotype founder' finds 63 hits on Google As Nell so rightly says, it appears to be in the printing trade.
