Did people marry & not mention middle names?

I have a marriage of William James Cook & Susannah Swan - Gloucester -Dec quarter - 1920 Susannah was apparently born 1896/7 possibly Glos but not 100% on that, but I'm having trouble finding her, I cannot find one without a middle name. I'm waiting for the certificate at the moment, but I did think Susannah would be easy to find... NOT! Any thoughts on this one? Sam

Yep, or change them, or add another one! Does the area and date fit in?

The only one I can find on 1837 born in either 1896 or 1897 is this one:- Susannah Alice Swan Dec. qtr. 1897, Tynemouth, 10b, 194 Nowhere near where the marriage took place. She's also the only one that comes up on Ancestry as born anywhere near the right time. Birthplace given as Willington Quay, father called James, a hairdresser. Kath. x

Do you have the marriage cert? You should be able to find her with her parents in 1901, and figure out which (if any) middle name belongs to her. She could be Susan, Susanna, Susannah or any other variation of Susannah too, just to complicate things lol

Thanks for your help Heather, Kath & Tracy There's this one if she was born a bit later, Births Jun 1898 ------------------ Swan Susannah Elizabeth Kettering 3b 207 No where near Gloucester either, but maybe it was just hearsay that they were Gloucester born & bred. My Dad was adamant that his ancestors were Welsh through & through, until I found that his gradfather was born in Cornwall! I'm going to leave this until I see the marriage cert I think, and hopefully get Susannah's age & fathers name *Patience is a virtue* ;)

It's not the Kettering one, Sammy... Deaths Jun 1898 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Swan Susannah Elizabeth 0 Kettering 3b 102 Ohh... what if she was older than she made out? Births Sep 1889 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Swan Susannah Gateshead 10a 851 even further away from Gloucester lol

The Susannah Elizabeth Swan that you mention comes up on Ancestry as dying in the same qtr as she was born age 0, so you can discount her. Kath. x

It would be just my luck for the cert to say ''FULL AGE'' and No dad listed :( I'm doubting that she was born a Swan now
