1851 census what was his occupation please?

Hello, I have a few ideas but was hoping someone could enlighten me as to what Charles BREMNER did. 1851 Caithness census lists his occupation as Pavt.Manur.Lab. Many thanks Helen

Hi Tracey , the family were poor crofters in the highlands I thought when I saw Manur.Lab - it could be shovelling you know what for fuel but I couldnt make out the Pavt bit. Strange never come across this before. Helen

Google finds the term 'Patent manure', presumably something that was manufactured.
