My G.G.Grandparents on 1881 Census - Peter Jones (32) Coal Miner, Margaret Jones (28) both born Flint, Flintshire, Dau Sarah (3), Dau Lucy (3mth) both born Ince, Lancs. Census place Ince, Lancs. Possible marriage record found: Peter Jones/Margaret Roberts- Dec qrt 1875 (Ref.11b/506) Civil marriage Holywell -although age of Peter 32yr doesn't match 1881 census, Margaret's age 23yr fits in with 1881 census. No other info, although I may have found their death records which if correct are Peter Age 51 Sept qtr 1899 (Wigan) and Margaret Age 33 Dec qtr 1885 (Leigh). I would think they were both still living in Wales at the time of the 1871 census, but parent's names not known. As would be expected their are quite a few Peter Jones births in Wales c.1849 and even more Margaret Robert's c.1853. Any tips on searching for Jones/Roberts in Wales would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!

Have you found out who their parents were? That would serve as a checking point if/when you come to get birth certs.

One of the children's birth certs would confirm Margaret's maiden name. Good luck. I have given up with husband's family - they are all John Jones who marries Margaret Evans and has two children called John Jones and Margaret Evans and then Margaret Evans marries Evan Evans and their daughter Margaret Evans marries John Jones... slight exaggeration, but there are only about 4 surnames between the lot of them and the census has roads of people with the same names and children of the same names, ages and places of birth. nell

Thanks for your replies Tracey and Nell. I have my G.Grandma Sarah Jones birth cert which gives mother's maiden name as Roberts (forgot to mention this). Annette
