on the marriage cert for my great x2 grandparents (1895) it has for grooms father occupation - 'stationer' but in the margin it says seven A.G.R eight A.G.R - what do they mean?

The numbers refer to an error correction and the initials are of the registrar. He perhaps made a mistake somewhere along the line, so corrected it. In his little book, there'll be a corresponding number with what happened.

Can you see a 7 or 8 in the main part of the certificate? If so, that will be the bit that had the mistake in it. nell
