Anything with .co or .com or .net is censored by GR, so you have to replace the . with * or a space. It's ok with .org (as in www.familysearch.org) or .gov Nell

Helen - and others You'll have noticed that .net is OK. As are .gov, .org, ... What GR suppresses is any close sequence of a 'dot' followed by 'co'. This means it also suppresses an address which has a 'dot' followed by 'Cornwall' or 'Colorado' or... As observed, anything stuffed in between, such as a *, is enough to evade the problem. Christine

Yes, it can be useful to some, but it's only a very small sample of the 1851 census (something like 2% or 5% of names) so don't be too alarmed if you don't find what you're looking for. If think Ancestry has this same 'sample' on their website too. I understand they're working on the full 1851 census. I pity the day they tackle the 1841. I tried looking at it in the in FRC. Apart from the rounded up ages, lack of relationship details and so on, it was mostly written in pencil. And you thought the later ones were difficult to read! Jonathan

I haven't checked that URL but there are several places with the 2% sample of the 1851 Census. They usually have it as a series of small files so even checking a small town can take quite a time. The Ancestry copy has the advantage that they have combined all these files so they can be searched together like any other census. Ancestry are saying Autumn 2005 for the full release of 1851. MB
