I have been lucky enough through a couple of replies through websites to have found some info about a great uncle of mine. I knew he had been to theological college and lived in Norfolk but nothing else. Have had a bit of luck and a reply that says my great uncle's ordination papers should be in the Manchester Diocesan Records. Can anyone tell me what to do next? Can you obtain these papers? The info I have also found out about him was from Crockford's Clerical Directory 1940, this has given a short list of where he was 1922-1937, are there later editions and where can I find them? Lots of questions as I need the help!!! Thank you Elaine

Hi Elaine There definitely are later editions of Crockfords. I'm not sure whether they are actually published every single year, nor whether larger libraries are likely to hold onto every edition, or just replace them every ten years or so (as our local library used to). Diocesan record offices are usually (but not always) under the same roof as the local record office. I would have thought that the information you want should be freely available: you've nothing to lose by asking.
