I have my grand mother and grand fathers years of birth and the area in which they were born but I cannot get a hit on the 1901 census. I have used various slight changes in the areas concerned because over the years they have changed, but whatever combination I use I get nothing. Any suggestions on what to do would be appreciated. When in doubt put in LESS information - try without a place and then see if you can spot someone on the list in roughly the right place, or widen the date of birth, or try with only first or last name in case the other name has been mistranscribed. |

Without names and ages it's difficult to give advice, but have you tried using just first name, age and birthplace? If you've been using the 'gender' or 'relationship to head' box, don't. |

Give us some names etc and we'll have a go, if you'd rather find them youself, thats fine, but we might be able to spot them, and give you some clues. Jess |

have you tried the 1901 on national archives site - that might give you some more areas to search on ancestry site |
