I have a few families who came to liverpool during the mid to late 1800's from ireand. Some because of famine possibly and just immigration reasons or work. But does anyone know how i could find out where about in ireland they came from. Census records from 1851 61 and 71.....are not telling me. Where else could i look. Thanks from stephanie. |

The most common way is indeed through censuses. As you've had no luck there, there's a chance a certificate might help e.g. a father's occupation on a marriage certificate stating he was a farmer in Cork. Apart from that, the only way I can think of is if your relative was involved in a court case or joined the armed forces or something where detailed records were kept that stated place of birth. |
