Hello, I would be grateful if anyone can help me to find the marriage of an Alfred James Green born 1833 died Islington 1891. On the death certificate his widow was E Green, 19 Wedmore Gardens. In the l861 Census the wife is shown as Mary E and in all later census' as Elizabeth. The first child shown was Anne Green b. 1858 Notting Hill - the second child named Sarah born 1860 Walworth. Thank you for looking Val

Have you tried FreeBMD Val, no good me looking if you already have, the few years prior to 1858 are very scant for BMD's at the moment, the writing is so bad on the original registers. You might need to go through 1837online, there are quite a few Free pages for that time. Of course you would only be able to search for Alfred, and would need to order the cert to confirm his spouse. Since you are not sure of his wife's first name, another option would be to get the birth certificate of one of the children which will have the mother's full name on it. Rose

It's possible that Mary E and Elizabeth are the same person - but also possible that Mary E died and Elizabeth was a second wife. Nell
