I have just received a death certificate from the Work House and on it, it states that cause of death was paralysis. Has anybody come across this before. I thought that perhaps it was another name for polio or a similar condition. |

Paralysis in the 1880's is what we call a stroke today. |

From http://www.paul_smith.doctors.org.uk/p.htm [website that has list of archaic medical terms] 'Paralysis: Will generally mean a stroke if used as an unmodified term ' nell |
