Do you have any idea of your half brother's mother's name? If you do you could look through the birth indexes for a male Andrew with mother's maiden name the same as hers. If you don't know it then it could be very difficult. You would have to go through every male born with the surname Andrew for the 5 or 6 years when you think he was born, and without even a place of birth for him, I don't know how you would know which was the right one. Is there no one in the family, like a grandparent, who would have this information? Kath. x |

If what you have written is truly all that you know..........there is only one way to find him. It will cost credits on 1837 It will involve trawling 192 And a few phone calls. A bit of educated guessing and elimination is probably necessary along the way. |

at least 28 credits needed on 1837,to check 4 quarters of each of the seven year period, for the surname andrews, recording all males born in the south east. That will provide the basis of your search |

Do you know if your father was married to the mother of your half brother? I've just realised that if he wasn't, then there is no way of you finding his birth by looking through the GRO birth indexes, as he would have been registered with his mother's name, and as you don't know what that was, you won't be able to look up his birth. You're right Derek. Instead of saying he WOULD have been registered with his mother's surname, I should have said COULD have been. Kath. x |
