Dads family aren't ones for talking so he knew nothing of his family history apart from his dad was one of 14. My grampy died when he was 92 and when he was nearing the end mum and dad visitied one sunday and dad sat and talked to his dad about what he could remember about his family. By this time it was a bit sketchy but grampy talked and dad listened and grabbed a bit of paper from the table and made basic notes. I started doing the family tree and had a missing link for one of Grampys siblings knew they were born c 1902 but nothing else. Dad today told me had found the piece of paper and it had the name Victor born 1902 and died when he was 14. Have now got the missing sibling and found his birth and death to confirm it. I am a happy bunny tonight- one small thing has filled in a missing gap.

Brilliant Dawn! I have always had old photographs of my ancestors but never was interested who they were ( one is a large group one) but now it's fascinating. I went to my brothers house who has most of my mums & dads photos etc and I nicked everything of interest. One of them was a tiny scrap of paper with 3 different cemetaries on and who is where and also a duplicate picture of the group one with all the names on the back! A gem of a find! Debby

Debby It never fails to amaze me how excited I get when I get a scrap of info to get my teeth into, and I hated history at school (still do). On hubbys side have just had some photos of some of his rellies sent to us and its great to put faces to these names I have been trying to find for so long.
