Been looking for Walter Harold Prestidge for months and many people on here have been trying to help me. Have his birth cert. and marriage cert. but still can't find him, nor his family on 1891 or 1901 census. Tonight I have found a HAROLD Prestidge living with Daniel Prestidge who is Walters uncle, born exactly the same year and same place as Walter. Although is does say on the census that Harold is his son. I have looked for the birth of a HAROLD Prestidge on 1837(.) com two years each side of his birth and there isn't one listed. Do you think it's possible that Walter is Harold? Just asking advice before sending of for certificate to try to prove it. Linda

Name trends change. I have an Eli Hector CHRISTMAS, who starts out as Eli and ends up as Hector. Fortunately he as pretty easy to track with a name like that plus being navy/coastguard - although I haven't found him in 1861 - possibly away at sea. Christine

Hi Jess, Walters father or mother are nowhere to be found on the 1891 or 1901 census either. Although when Walter married in 1913 his father is down named as Thomas, doesn't say deceased, although I know that sometimes it just doesn't say it. I can't find the death of Thomas or his wife Mary Charlotte either though. Linda

I would say there's a good chance that you've found the right person. I have a family in 1901 where Edward Henry, the father, is down as Edward, whereas his son, Edward Henry is logged as Henry.
