Can anyone tell me why sometimes there are an odd number of marriage entries on a page eg 4 women and 3 men and where would you find the missing one? Ta SiM

It usually means they have'nt yet been transcribed! If you know the name of one partner and have date and area etc you could cross reference with those details on 1837 on-line and find out who the bride/groom was! Lib Or you can ask to have the details checked when ordering the cert, that way if its not the correct one you dont pay the full cost! Lib

Would I be right in thinking the only way to find out is to request the certificate? Wooosh - there goes another £7.... SiM

Ok have found the partner listed same time (sep 1848) but on a different volume. Is that possible? His entry is listed as Newington, all the others on his page are listed as Lambeth. Her entry is on a Newington page. What's going on??? SiM

They have to be on the same page but if the otherson the entry you have found for him are a different reg district it means his page number has been mistranscribed. Is it a similar number to hers - ie only one digit different?

yep, John Lambert at Newington is on page 413 on the image. It's a different John Lambert on the line above who's on 253. The FreeBMD transcriber has jumped a line

So, before I celebrate and jump up and down - they should be on the same page together, hence there only being 7 on Martha's page and John's being on Lambeth instead of Newington. In other words I have got the right marriage!??? If yes...THANK YOU EVERYONE.... If no...D'OH! Sarah

yes, if John had been transcribed right he'd have been the missing 4th man on Martha's page
