Can anyone tell me why some death records list the age at death and some don't. I have 4 possibles and don't want to send for all certs. to find right one because of the expense involved. Carole

Do you have any idea what age the person should be when they died?

If there is one that looks more likely, try sending for the cert, if you know any details like who probably registered the death, or an address, or anything that can narrow it down, add this to your request for cert and ask registrar to tear up cheque if the detail does not match. Sometimes it is a bit hit and miss, sorry if this is not much help.

Age at death in the BMD indexes started around 1866 - those before that in the index will have no ages.
