How do I go about finding a friend's father, who was a canadian billeted in East Sussex, who had a relationship with my friend's mother, resulting in his birth in1942. The father went off to another part of Sussex and was never heard of again. He would not know of my friend's existance. Any tips would be greatfully received. Thanks, Dorothy. |

Dorothy, Presuming you know the name, you might start by checking to see if he survived the war. You can search for casualties on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website. If he survived then you have to search Canadian records for his whereabouts after the war, that is presuming he returned to Canada. I doubt you will be able to obtain his army service records but that is a question for someone with Canadian knowledge. Ian |

Dorothy, I am in touch with many UK war brides who met and married American and Canadian servicemen, as well as those that just had a child and are tracing lost servicemen fathers. Please contact me. You might also like to visit http://www(.)weddingspastandpresent(.)co(.)uk |
